THE BEST ARMY DEFENSE ATTORNEYS

Capovilla & Williams began when two Army Jag Officers, Robert Capovilla and Mickey Williams made the decision to leave lucrative positions as Army Trial Defense Attorneys and start a law firm devoted to helping Soldiers all over the world to fight against false allegations and weak accusations.

We take pride in our unwavering support for Soldiers worldwide across every aspect of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). From General Officer Memorandums of Reprimand (GOMORs) to AR 15-6 investigations, our expert teams of litigators and Army administrative attorneys stand out as leaders in their fields. With extensive experience representing Soldiers in some of the most notable Court-Martials in U.S. history, we tackle a wide array of Army administrative and criminal matters with confidence and authority.

Our commitment is clear: every Soldier deserves top-notch representation, and we are here to deliver. We have had the honor of representing individuals at all ranks, grades, and duties—General Officers, Privates, Warrant Officers, recruiters, Drill Sergeants, Army Rangers, Green Berets, Delta Force Operators, Doctors, Dentists, JAG Officers, and trainees. Our specially trained attorneys are masters of military law, specializing in UCMJ defense and ensuring that our clients receive the strongest advocacy possible. Our dedicated team of skilled litigators and Army administrative attorneys excel in their fields. Our mission is to ensure that every Soldier receives the dedicated representation they deserve.

Mickey Williams, the Managing Partner, shared insights about the firm’s origins.

“Rob and I first crossed paths when we were honored to be recognized as two of the top Army Trial Defense Service (TDS) attorneys in our field. The Army selected us for Capital Certification and provided advanced training across the nation. While we enjoyed serving as TDS officers, we felt that the constraints of Army politics sometimes limited our ability to fully advocate for our clients. Therefore, we took a courageous leap of faith—believing in God, in ourselves, and in our dream of establishing a world-class law firm.

Fast forward many years, and we are thrilled to lead a dynamic law firm with nearly 40 dedicated employees, proudly representing Soldiers worldwide. With nearly 300 years of combined experience in military law, we are more passionate than ever about ensuring our Soldiers have strong voices throughout the investigation and court-martial processes. Together, we are committed to making a meaningful difference and standing up for those who serve!”

WE ARE ATTORNEYS, SOLDIERS, LEADERS, AUTHORS, AND ADVOCATES

Upon graduating, Josh joined Capovilla & Williams, driven by a heartfelt mission to support Soldiers throughout his career. He has since taken on the role of lead counsel for over 1,000 administrative actions within the Army, tackling everything from GOMORs to AR 15-6 investigations and beyond. His remarkable expertise in Army administrative law has earned him the affectionate nickname, “the wizard.” With a genuine commitment to serving those who serve our country, Josh is a dedicated advocate ready to make a difference!

Attorney Michael Logan, is a distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and a former Division-I Wrestler. After earning his degree, Michael proudly accepted a commission as a logistics officer, where he had the incredible opportunity to lead Soldiers in various roles. His dedication truly shone while he served in the U.S. Virgin Islands, coordinating humanitarian missions after hurricanes Irma and Maria, and later as a liaison to the state of Virginia during the COVID-19 response. Michael went on to earn his law degree from the esteemed Campbell University School of Law and was accepted into the Army JAGC National Guard. With extensive litigation experience, he has passionately represented hundreds of clients. Michael brings confidence, enthusiasm, and a sincere commitment to justice, making him a remarkable advocate for those in need.

Attorney Emily Moy started her career in the Army JAGC in 2013. While serving at Fort Lee, Virginia, Emily was widely considered one of the best Army administrative attorneys in the force. After her impactful tour at Fort Lee, Emily embraced the challenge of an overseas assignment in Vicenza, Italy, stepping into the role of military prosecutor and then a Trial Defense Services Officer. Emily passionately fought for Soldiers in courts-martial, administrative boards, pretrial confinement reviews, and preliminary hearings. As a defense attorney, Emily litigated over 25 contested courts-martial in one of the most demanding jurisdictions, including a pivotal child murder case where she secured an impressive acquittal rate.

Attorney George Yates is a decorated Army veteran who started his career as a Transportation Maintenance Officer in Korea, was accepted into the Army’s Prestigious Funded Legal Education Program, graduated from The George Washington School of Law, and was promptly accepted into the Army JAGC. As a JAG Officer at Fort Hood, Texas, he shone as the Brigade Judge Advocate for the 89th Military Police Brigade. After his assignment at Fort Cavazos, George continued to leave an indelible mark as a Litigation Attorney for the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. George took on the role of Litigation Attorney for the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Stewart. George adeptly managed, organized, and prepared over 100 criminal and administrative cases, showcasing his commitment to excellence through collaboration with CID in developing investigation plans, securing search warrants, and preparing cases for court-martial.

Paralegal Jeremy Koop is a combat veteran with over 20 years of service in the United States Army. He combines formal legal training with hands-on experience gained at four of the largest JAG offices in the country.
