Travis AFB is Known as the “Gateway to the Pacific.” Anyone who has served, lived, or operated at Travis Air Force Base knows it plays a critical role in global Air Force operations. Often referred to as the “Gateway to the Pacific,” Travis handles more cargo and passenger traffic than any other military air terminal in the United States. It is home to the 60th Air Mobility Wing, the largest wing in Air Mobility Command, operating aircraft such as the C-5M Super Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III, and KC-46 Pegasus. The base also houses the David Grant USAF Medical Center, the largest Air Force medical facility on the West Coast and a primary hub for aeromedical evacuations. Because of its high operational tempo and global mission, Airmen at Travis often work in fast paced, high pressure environments where even minor allegations can carry serious and lasting career consequences.

Experience.  At Capovilla & Williams, we have extensive experience representing Airmen in cases connected to Travis AFB. Our attorneys have successfully handled complex administrative and criminal matters tied to this installation, giving us a strong understanding of how cases are investigated and prosecuted within its command structure. We have represented multiple senior officers in Officer Grade Determinations processed through Travis, securing outcomes that allowed our clients to retire at their earned rank and preserve their careers. In addition, our team has defended Airmen facing serious criminal allegations, using detailed investigations and strategic advocacy to limit exposure and achieve favorable results. This experience provides us with a practical, results-driven perspective on how military justice matters unfold at Travis. We regularly handle courts martial, administrative actions, and high-stakes allegations, and we understand how high-tempo operational environments like Travis can influence command decisions, and how to effectively counter those pressures to protect our clients.

Case Result #1: Our A1C client was charged with four specifications under Article 134 involving possession of child pornography, facing up to 30 years in confinement and a dishonorable discharge. After a detailed review of the evidence, we negotiated a plea agreement that capped exposure at 2 to 4 years. Through a compelling sentencing case and effective advocacy, the client received just 2 years of confinement.

Case Result #2: Col (ret.) Chris Jones represented an Airman accused of soliciting minors and using indecent language. Through a strategic investigation and highly effective cross-examination of the Government’s forensic psychologist, the defense significantly weakened the prosecution’s case. The client ultimately received less confinement than what was offered in the Government’s plea deal.

Size. A law firm’s size doesn’t always determine its effectiveness, efficiency, or success. However, when it comes to military cases, size plays a critical role because the opposing party is the U.S. government, which brings significant resources to the table. At Capovilla & Williams, we not only match but often surpass the federal government’s resources in these cases. With 16 dedicated full-time attorneys – each a valued employee of our firm rather than merely “Of Counsel” – we ensure you have a powerful legal team on your side. Our team includes 7 former military investigators with extensive backgrounds in CID, NCIS, and OSI, who meticulously review every detail of your case to uncover all exculpatory evidence. Plus, our dedicated support staff is focused on providing our clients with every possible advantage in their defense at Travis Air Force Base. From in-depth case analysis to strategic preparation, our team works relentlessly behind the scenes to strengthen your position at every stage. With us, you have a powerful ally committed to protecting your career, your reputation, and your future.
