Unlocking The Secrets To Navigating A Bias CID Investigation: Your Essential Guide To Success
At Capovilla & Williams, we receive daily phone calls from Soldiers who are under investigation by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID). CID investigates felony-level offenses within the U.S. Army. We have represented over a thousand Soldiers facing CID investigations and we have more than 300 years of military law experience. Our team includes former Special Agents, military prosecutors, and military defense attorneys who know how to address bias and incomplete CID investigations.
The good news is that the team at Capovilla & Williams has an outstanding track record of helping Soldiers navigate CID investigations and avoid criminal charges related to felony level allegations. In fact, based on data we compiled in 2025, less than 5 percent of the Soldiers who hired us while under CID investigation faced court-martial charges. This statistic highlights our dedication, skill, resources, and expertise in assisting every Soldier who seeks our help. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines are our mission at Capovilla & Williams, and we pride ourselves on being the best in the world at what we do.
A Strong History Of Overcoming CID Allegations
Many Soldiers who reach out to us feel afraid, confused, and uncertain about their situations. A significant number feel abandoned by their command, leadership, and mentors. In some cases, the CID has already approached them, attempting to persuade them to undergo a polygraph examination. These Soldiers may be compelled to provide DNA samples, fingerprints, and mugshots before CID has even completed a full investigation.
We once represented a decorated DELTA Force operator and Senior NCO who shared that facing a CID investigation was the most stressful experience of his life. This was a man who had traveled the world confronting our nation’s enemies and had undergone some of the toughest training imaginable, yet he was falsely accused and afraid. It’s important to understand that feeling afraid, scared, or a bit lost is completely normal; it makes you human. However, if you find yourself under a CID investigation, you must have a well-thought-out plan and a strong support team backing you up. You will have one opportunity to handle this correctly, and if you don’t, you could end up facing a General Court-Martial and potentially spending years behind bars.
Cracking The Code: Our Strategy To Saver Your Career During A CID Investigation
It’s important to understand that CID only investigates felony-level allegations. If you find yourself under CID investigation, you need to take serious steps to protect yourself, your career, your family, and your future.
Let me clarify how we differ from Army Trial Defense Services (TDS). Most of our attorneys are former TDS personnel, and we hold them in great respect. However, their typical advice when you are under investigation is to “not make any statements, don’t rock the boat, sit back, and let CID do its job.” At Capovilla & Williams, we believe this approach is misguided. We strongly feel that passively allowing CID to build their case against you is a poor strategy and not how to respond to such serious situations.
Consider this question: what significant accomplishment in life has ever been achieved without a plan, intentional steps, and the necessary resources to execute that plan? If you are a Soldier who passively hopes that CID will do the right thing, you may want to stop reading this and contact the next law firm. However, if you are a Soldier who wants to reclaim your power, move forward, and position yourself for success, then keep reading.
Your Path To Success In Navigating A CID Investigation
Every Soldier who hires us will receive a comprehensive team to assist them in combating false or weak allegations. This team will include a lead attorney with extensive military law experience, a dedicated paralegal, and an experienced military investigator.
Our philosophy is straightforward: we deliver the best team, create a strategic plan to help you achieve your goals, and relentlessly defend your interests. We don’t sit idle while CID attempts to incriminate you. We proactively keep you informed about your case’s status, advocate fiercely with military prosecutors and the Office of the Special Trial Counsel (OSTC) to safeguard your interests, and conduct thorough investigations to develop a robust theme and theory of defense from the get-go—when it’s tactically advantageous. We leverage our prestige, resources, and proven track record of success to position you for success. We do not just sit back and let CID screw you over.
We are not TDS. We don’t hang out with CID or military prosecutors aiming to charge you. We don’t train with them, grab coffee, or consider them friends. Our loyalty lies solely with you, your career, and your future. We answer only to you, giving us the freedom to commit ourselves fully to your case. As trial attorneys, our reputation precedes us in courtrooms nationwide, giving you an unparalleled advantage. Prosecutors and CID seek easy targets; our mission is to make it as challenging as possible for them.
